Navratri is a nine-night Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. During the festival, Maa Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day. Devotees seek her blessings for strength, health, and prosperity. Pumpkins are considered her favorite offering, and people offer them as part of their rituals to please her.

Maa Kushmanda is considered one of the forms that Goddess Durga assumed in her battle against the demon Mahishasura. According to Hindu mythology, when the universe was enveloped in darkness, the goddess Parvati, who later became Durga, created a divine form with her smile. This divine form came to be known as Maa Kushmanda, and her radiance and energy brought light and life into the universe.

As per legend, Once there was a time when Lord Vishnu created this universe and there was darkness all around. Then Goddess Kushmanda smiled and removed the darkness from this universe and lighten up each planet, galaxies and world. She is the one who created the this universe from nothing. Goddess Kushmanda is the ultimate source of light and energy. It is believed that Sun also get this light and energy from Maa Kushmanda.

In her hands, she holds various objects and weapons, symbolizing her attributes and powers.

Devotees pray to Maa Kushmanda seeking her blessings for strength, health, and prosperity. She is believed to be the source of all creation and the one who brings light and energy into the universe. During the worship of Maa Kushmanda in Navratri, offerings of pumpkins and other fruits are often made, as these are considered her favorite offerings.
